Last Thursday we almost lost our new calf. She had tucked herself along the back fence for a nap. When we found her she was not responing to our voices or being touched, but she was still breathing. We started calling all our friends that have cattle to find out what we needed to do to bring here around.
We were told to get some colostrum and milk substitute. While Lonnie went to the feed store, I pulled her away from the brush and sat beside her, keeping her awake. As I rubbed her neck she leaned toward my hand, all of a sudden she got up and bolted.
Not sure what had happened but we are glad she is alright. Never did get her to take the bottle of colostrum. It has been almost a week and she is still doing very good.
We still do not have a name for this one. Hopefully the grandkids will come up with one soon.
